Slow Vehicles Medium Vehicles Fast Vehicles

bicycle, bullock-cart, scooter, car, bus, jeep, aeroplane, helicopter

              rickshaw etc. train etc. etc.

Normally, vehicles are grouped into means of land, water and air transport.

                Means of Land Transport

The means of land transport move on land. We need roads or railways for

them. The important vehicles among them include bicycle, motorcycle, car,
truck, train etc. Building roads and laying railways are very expensive,
especially in hilly and desert areas. So, animals like horse, mule and camel

            are used there.

                Means of Water Transport

Boat, ship, steamer etc., move on water, so they are called means of water

transport. They are the cheapest means of transport as no roads or railways
are needed for them. Seaports are needed for ships.

                     boat ship steamer

                Means of Air Transport

Aeroplane and helicopter move on air, so they are called means of air
transport. These are very quick, but they are very expensive. Airports are
needed for them. Helicopter can land on any firm ground. Their fuel is costly.

India : Means of Transport 57
