We can write a letter and drop it in the letter-box . A postman collects all

letters from the letter-box, stamps them, sorts them as per the city in
different bags and then sends these bags by van, bus, train, aeroplane or
ship to their destinations.

At the destination, another postman receives these bags, stamps the letters and
sorts them as per the locality. Then he cycles to the doorstep to deliver them.

If you want to send a parcel, you have to give it in the post office. The

postman deals with it as he has done with a letter.

Rain, wind or sun, a postman is always at his work. He works in a post
office. There are several post offices in a city, but

there is a common post office for several villages.

A postman wears a uniform. He works hard. He
is an important helper.

These days, there are several private courier

companies. They also transport letters and
parcels. Their delivery men bring letters and

parcels to our doorsteps.

Policeman

A policeman has an important duty to do for us. We can see him in a police

station or check post. He is also positioned in city squares, fairs and other
important places.

A policeman maintains law and order. He

prevents crimes. He catches thieves and robbers.
He also helps in case of an accident. If you are in
a trouble and there is no one to help you, you

should approach a policeman.

A traffic policeman ensures the smooth flow of
traffic on the road.

Doctor

You need to go to a doctor if you fall ill. You also need him if you hurt
yourself. So, he is a very important helper. He treats the sick and the
