Fishing is an important occupation for people who live near the seacoasts

and rivers. They catch fish for a living.

Lumbering is an important occupation for people who live in or near

forests. They cut wood for a living. Wood is used for fuel, building and
furniture.

There are many minerals in the earth. Some people dig out these minerals

for a living. This occupation is called mining. Important minerals got from
the earth are iron, copper, coal, gold, petrol etc.

In towns and cities, different occupations are found. Many people work in
factories and offices.

A large number of people work in government offices and departments.
They may be clerks, supervisors, officers, postmen, policemen, soldiers etc.
They are called government employees.

Many people work in private offices, factories, shops and other
organisations. They may be clerks, managers, salesmen etc.

Many people work at construction sites; they are labourers, masons,
engineers, mechanists, plumbers, electricians, painters etc.

In modern times, many new occupations have come into being. In the field

of computer, we can find computer operator, composer, designer, software
engineer, hardware engineer etc.

Many people work in the entertainment industry. We can find actor, dancer,
singer, director and others in the film and television industry.
