10 India : Helpers

Helpers and I

You cannot do all your things yourselves. People working in different occupations are your
helpers. They provide you goods and services. You need a teacher to teach you; a
shopkeeper to sell you goods; a doctor to look after you; a mechanic to repair your bicycle;

a tailor to stitch your clothes; and so on. They make your life easy. We must respect them
all.

We shall study some important helpers.

Teacher

After mother, a teacher is the most important

person for a child. She teaches him to read, write,
paint, sing and dance; and she also teaches him

good qualities and manners. She makes a child a
good person and citizen. She helps a child become

successful in life.

A teacher looks after a child very well. You must respect her all your life.
You celebrate Teacher’s Day in her honour.

Postman

We need to write letters to others. A postman
helps us deliver a letter to the addressee. If we

want to send a gift or any other thing to some
other person, a postman can help in this too. It is

called a parcel .
