Himalayas
The Himalayas are high mountains. They are located in the north of India.
They are the largest and highest mountain chain in the world. There are
many very high mountain peaks. Mount Everest is the highest mountain
peak in the Himalayas, but it is not in India, it is in Nepal. K2 (Mount
Godwin) is the highest peak in India. It is located in Kashmir.
The high peaks of the Himalayas remain covered with ice throughout the
year. Ice keeps melting, by which rivers are formed. Many great rivers
originate from the Himalayas, like the Ganga, Yamuna, Indus, Sutlej,
Brahmaputra and others.
