P. 61
One day, he struck a stone on another. It produced a flash. From
this, he learnt how to make a fire. It gave him light and heat. He
roasted foods and animals on fire. It made them soft and tasty.
Early Man saw that plants and trees grow from seeds. Now, he
started to grow those plants and trees which were useful to him.
Now, he settled at one place.
He settled near the rivers because plants need water. He made huts
from mud and bamboo to live.
He learnt to make boats from tree trunks. One day, he made a
wheel from wood. He fitted it in a cart. It made easy for him to
carry loads. With time, he learnt to use animals to draw his cart.
Gradually, he learnt to make more tools and other things, like pots.
When he found iron, he made things from it.
The story of Early Man is the story of our progress. What we are
today is because Early Man worked for us long back.
