Republic Day

India became a republic on 26

January, 1950. So, we
celebrate this day as Republic

Day each year. A grand

parade is held at the Rajpath

in New Delhi. The President
of India takes the salute. All

people celebrate it in their

towns and villages.

Gandhi Jayanti

Gandhiji was a great leader of

India. He was born on 2 October,

1869. We celebrate his birthday

as Gandhi Jayanti. The President,
the Prime Minister and other

people offer flowers at the

Gandhi Samadhi at the Rajghat in
New Delhi. People hold many

programmes in towns and

villages in his honour.
