Agriculture is the chief occupation. Scientific implements are widely used in farming.
The important crops grown in the state are wheat, sugarcane
and pulses. Industrial development too has taken place with
Gurugram and Faridabad as important industrial centres.

The people of Haryana are hard working. Men wear kurta-
pyjama-turban and women wear salwar-shirt-dupatta . They
speak Hindi and Haryanvi.

The most well-known place of tourist interest in Haryana is
Kurukshetra; it is believed to be the site of the epic battle of
Kurukshetra
Mahabharata.

Chandigarh

Chandigarh is the common capital of both Punjab and Haryana. It is a union territory.
It is a well-planned and clean city. People are educated and modern. Punjabi and
English are widely spoken here. There are many places of tourist interest including the

Rose Garden and Rock Garden.

Delhi

Delhi is more like a mini-India because we can find glimpses of people from different
states. It is located on both banks of the Yamuna. It is a modern urban city which has
emerged as an important industrial and trade centre. The chief occupation of people is
trade. A large number of people are employed in government and private
organisations. People speak Hindi, Punjabi and English.

Being the capital, New Delhi has all important central government offices here. The
Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhavan are located here. Delhi has its own chief minister,
so his office is also located here. Delhi is known for the flyovers. It is well-known for its
eateries and markets, especially at Chandani Chowk, Dilli Haat, Paharganj and many
