• A map has several advantages over a globe.
• Two major types of maps are physical and political maps.
• The four cardinal directions are East, West, North and South.
• A sub-direction is the place located at the meeting point of two cardinal directions.
• A scale is the ratio between ground distance and map distance.
• The four main colours used on a map are blue, brown, yellow and green.
