Facts

            • A globe is a model to study the earth.
            • The earth rotates on an imaginary line called axis.
            • The latitudes are imaginary horizontal lines running parallel to the Equator.

            • The North Pole and the South Pole are the extreme points which the axis touches.
            • The most important latitudes are the Equator, tropics, circles and poles.
            • The longitudes are imaginary vertical lines joining the two poles.

            • Latitudes and longitudes are marked in degrees.
            • Latitudes and longitudes form a grid which helps us locate a place on the globe.
