remaining one-fourth is land. Because of so much water, the Earth looks
blue from the outer space. So, it is also called the Blue Planet .
We can live because there are air and water on the Earth, and because we
get heat and light from the Sun.
We live on the land, so do many other animals like dog, horse, lion, giraffe
and snake. Many animals live in water, like fish, whale and seahorse. Some
animals can fly, like myna, eagle and butterfly. Some animals can live both
in water and on land, like frog, snake and crocodile.
Stand in the open. Look far. You will see that the Earth and the sky are
meeting at a distance. In fact, they can never meet. The line at which they
seem to meet is called horizon .
