declared India a party to the war, it was he who opposed this and said that the British
should first seek the Congress’s permission. He took out processions in Calcutta against
the British decision, so he was arrested and put in jail. He underwent a 7-day-long
hunger strike, after which he was released from jail, but was put under house arrest.

From this arrest, he escaped on 16 January, 1941. He Know It!

Independent India at Singapore. He led the

army and attacked Burma (now Myanmar)

Unfortunately, Japan was facing defeat at this
time, so it did not permit him to fight further.
It is said that Bose died in a plane crash in

               India Embraces Freedom

The British won the Second World War, but the Indians were now motivated against
them. They were ruling India with the help of the Indian soldiers. At first, the Navy
revolted in 1946, and then the railway and other government employees too struck
work. The British government was facing a lot of problems, so it decided to accede
            freedom to India.

However, it did not forget to adopt its policy of
Divide and Rule even when it was leaving India. It
divided the country into India and Pakistan. India
gained its freedom on 15 August, 1947 . Unfortunately,

communal riots broke out at this time, in which
millions of people died. Dr. Rajendra Prasad became
the first President of India and Pandit Jawaharlal
Nehru , the first Prime Minister of India. Jawaharlal Nehru on
                                                                                       15 August, 1947 in Parliament
The march to freedom was long and hard, but the
Indians had dreams of the better days ahead. At present, India is an established power
in several fields including military, science and technology, space, economy and other
            fields.
