Christianity was founded by Jesus Christ . Its holy book is the Bible . The Christians
offer prayers in a church.

Buddhism
Buddhism was founded by Lord Buddha . This religion teaches universal love and
brotherhood.

Jainism

Jainism is an ancient religion which was popularised by Lord Mahavira . The Jains
believe in right faith, right knowledge and right conduct.

Zoroastrianism

The followers of this religion are called Parsees . They came to India from Iran about
1200 years ago. Their holy book is the Zend Avesta .

Languages of India

India is home to hundreds of languages. The Constitution of India recognises 23 of
these. These are :

Dresses of India

There is a large variety of Indian dresses, the most popular being dhoti-kurta for men
and saree-blouse for women. Salwar-kameej is also very popular. People in towns and
cities wear modern dresses, such as coat, pant, shirt, T-shirt, jeans, skirt etc. Ornaments
are popular with both men and women, especially rings, earrings and chains etc.
