Delhi has a large number of small and big
industries. It is well-known for its electric
appliances, electronic goods, machinery,
computer parts, garments, toys and packaged
foods. It is a large wholesale business where
merchants come from all over the country
and world to sell and purchase goods.

People, Culture, Language, Dress and Food
People of Delhi are known as Dilwalas or hearty people who know how to
enjoy life. They work hard and also enjoy themselves in different ways,
especially in parties and celebrations. Groups of people can be seen
enjoying themselves in street food stalls and dhabas.
The culture of Delhi is much like that of Punjab because of a large number
of Punjabi people living here. They speak Hindi, Punjabi and English.
Different festivals from all over India are celebrated here with fanfare, such
as Diwali, Dussehra, Holi, Durga Puja, Eid, Lohri, Mahavir Jayanti,
Mahashivratri, Christmas and so on.
Delhi is very hot in summer and very cold in winter, so a wide variety of
dresses can be seen in different seasons. Pant-shirt and salwar-kameej are
very popular, but all kinds of dresses can be commonly seen.
Delhi is known for its large variety of food. The Punjabi cuisine is very
popular, so paneer-tikka, chhole-bhature, rice-curry are commonly eaten.
Besides, other dishes from all over India are also popular like dhokla, dosa,
idli, chowmein etc. The people of Delhi are also very fond of sweets like
burfi, kaju-katli, rasgolla and jalebi. Foreign dishes like pizza and pasta are
also widely eaten.
