Facts
• Natural vegetation grows naturally and includes different types of trees, plants, shrubs, creepers,
bushes and grasses.
• The important types of forests in India include evergreen forests, deciduous forests, tidal forests,
thorny forests and coniferous forests.
• Forests are very important to us in a variety of ways.
• It is important to conserve forests in our own interest.
• Wildlife means different types of animals, birds, insects, fishes and reptiles which live in their natural
habitat.
• To conserve wildlife, the government has set up a number of national parks, wildlife sanctuaries and
bird sanctuaries.
