Conservation of the Environment
If we want life to continue on this earth, and if we want to lead a happy and healthy
life, there is no option before us but to conserve the environment. We cannot continue
to lead a wasteful life as we are doing now. Complete destruction is staring us in the
eye. We must take the following steps immediately in our own interest :
u Plant trees. Make sure no plant dies for want of water.
u Save water. Never waste water.
u Dig a pit and put all biodegradable things in it.
They should never be burnt.
u Adopt 3 R’s to conserve the environment.
u Avoid plastic things and bags. Use cloth and paper bags.
u Save electricity, petrol and other sources of energy.
u Live a life in the lap of nature.
environment : the natural world in which people, animals and plants live.
pesticide : a chemical to kill pests, insects etc.
natural resources : natural substances like water, air, plants, minerals etc.
atmosphere : the mixture of gases that surrounds the earth.
pollution : the dirtying of the environment.
fertilizer : a substance to help plants grow better.
biodegradable : what can rot into a natural state in some time.
non-biodegradable : what is not biodegradable.
3-R’s formula : reuse, recycle and resell.
kabariwallah : a junk-dealer.

• Man harms the nature in many ways.
• The environmental crisis is in two forms; limited resources and environmental pollution.
• Air pollution disturbs the balance of atmospheric gases.
• Water becomes dirty when we use it for different purposes.
• Noise pollution is the cause behind several mental problems.
• Waste can be biodegradable or non-biodegradable.
• We can adopt the 3-R’s formula to reduce pollution.
• We can make effort to conserve the environment in several ways.
